Our newly installed wind turbine provides most of our electricity exporting the surplus to the grid.
The area is a walker’s paradise and has many abbeys, castles, museums and country pubs serving high quality food. Scarborough, Whitby and the historic city of York are within easy reach.
The bedroom has fitted wardrobes and clock/radio alarm; en-suite bathroom with bath and shower, heated towel rail; sitting room with remote control LCD TV with freeview and built-in DVD player, wood burning stove, and dining area tastefully furnished in pine and cane; small well-equipped kitchen (including microwave, fridge & full sized cooker).

There is so much to see in Richmond itself, to name but a few, the castle, the Swale with its waterfall (the Fosse), the ruins of Easby Abbey a peaceful relaxing place, the Richmonshire and the Green Howards museums, the Georgian theatre. There is plenty of scenic walking down by the river, down in Round Howe and up on the West Field. The "Coast to Coast" walk passes through Richmond. The "National Park" is but a few minutes walk away! The local horse racecourse is at Catterick which is but a 20minute drive away.
There are a plethora of places to eat in Richmond and you should find one to suit with it's many pubs, tea-rooms, restaurants, cafe's and take a ways.
Outside of Richmond you have the rest of the dales with wonderful landscape and views, each dale and village having it's own charm and character.
A stones throw away is the local convenience shop, however just a short walk away are all of the other shops including the Co-op, Boot's, Smiths, local butchers, bakers and not forgetting the charity shops etc.
We do accomodate one "very well behaved dog", but please be aware that there is NO GARDEN or SECURE AREA, so dog owners must take doggy out regularly for toileting and doggy must not be left in the cottage unattended or allowed on bed and furniture. A very nice local dog walk is up on the "West Field", just a very short walk away.
Towels are available for hire at a small charge.
