| | | Old Post Office Barn, Castle Cary, Somerset | | | The perfect place to relax or explore the depths of the Somerset countryside | GBP250 - GBP510 | A beautiful old building that provides a comfortable and clean 'home from home' Detached 18th Century converted two storey stone built barn
providing a perfect 'home from home' in the depth of the Somerset countryside in the quiet village of Galhampton near the unspoilt market town of Castle Cary - a town ‘lost in time’ having thankfully been overlooked by the less desirable aspects of progress!
Galhampton is a quiet, rural and very friendly village - indeed one guest whilst out walking was asked if she wanted to contribute cakes to the coffee morning! It is ideally situated for you to enjoy the area whether you want shopping, attractions, walking, quiet village pub meals or a combination of them all. It is ideal for Glastonbury, Wells, Stourhead, Sherbourne, Bath & West showground, Wincanton racecourse, and the Camelot countryside with good local walking.
There is a nice and welcoming village pub with good food. In all this is a truly relaxing yet well located and rural place to spend your holiday.
The Barn has a large and well appointed kitchen diner, a large sitting room, two large en suite double bedrooms (one with twin beds). There is a garden with a gloriously sunny patio with a gas BBQ and 'fire pit' wood brazier.
There is the paddocks for bigger games like football or rounders (horse permitting) - even a set of rugby posts ! We provide on site parking for 1 car (2nd car by negotiation). There is a welcome basket of local food. The two en suite bathrooms contain a lavatory, shower and basin.
As we have free ranging children, chickens, horses etc - we can accept 1 well behaved dog (sometimes 2 ) by prior arrangement only - there is an extra cost of £20/week each. We may also require a £50 refundable damage/security deposit (in the case of young dogs for example).
There is a TV with Freeview in the Kitchen, sitting room and master bedroom. We have wi-fi available but due to the distance from the exchange we can't always guarantee it is working - but that's half the fun of living in the country !
On our website www.oldpostofficebarn.co.uk you can read the fantastic reviews and feedback our guests have left - it is clear why we have lots of families or 'rendez-vous friends' returning. You can also see more details and pictures of the barn and of the surrounding area.
You can also use Googlemap and postcode BA22 7AP to explore the village.
