Weymouth, Lyme Regis and Abbotsbury, with its' famous swannery and tropical gardens are all within the surrounding area including Eggardon Hill just 2 miles away, with fantastic views of the lovely countryside stretching to the coast.
The neighbouring village of Maiden Newton has a grocery shop, public house, garage and newsagents with a coffee shop at the rear which serve excellent home cooked lunches.
Originally converted from part of The Old School, The Little School was primarily the Infant Classroom and latterly The Headmaster's Study. It is a single story dwelling with level access except for 1 small step at the entrance and 1 step in the corridor. There is one cosy bedroom with twin beds which can be put used as a double bed if
prefered. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge, electric kettle and toaster. The spacious lounge/diner with French windows opening onto private patio that has garden furniture with lovely views across the countryside. The bathroom has a bath with shower, w.c. and wash hand basin.
From 2011 there will be a shared laundry room with a washing machine and tumble dryer which will be coin operated, and there is a washing line by the apple tree in the garden. There is also a garden with garden furniture to the rear of the property. Please feel free to have a barbeque if you wish.
It is situated close to the end of a no through road and commands stunning views across the beautiful Dorset countryside. There are many good walks in the area, especially as it within close proximity to a footpath which takes you into the open countryside and within easy walking distance of The Kingcombe Nature Reserve.
There is a wealth of wildlife in the surrounding area, often deer can be seen from the cottage enjoying the village recreation area! Buzzards are numerous, the great spotted and green woodpeckers have made their home in the area as well many as foxes and badgers. The nearby Kingcombe Centre (approx. 1 mile) often arrange natural walks on Wednesday afternoons followed by tea and cake.
For garden lovers, Forde Abbey near Chard, Montecute House, Abbotsbury Tropical Gardens and Kingston Maurward are all well a worth visit. Children (and adults) will enjoy a visit to Monkey World,
the animal farm and swannery at Abbotsbury, the Sea Life Museum, Bovington Tank Museum, the Dorchester Dinosaur musuem and Yeovilton Air Museum.
