| | | Roundhouse, Crackington Haven, Cornwall | | | Quiet rural location, five miles from the beach. | GBP240 - GBP620 | Four star cottage in quiet rural location, five miles to coast Five cottages stand at the end of a private tree lined drive, in a south facing hollow, The Roundhouse, Beech, Ash, Pond Meadow and Little Leighs have been converted from 18th Century farm buildings. The three acre grounds include attractive lawned gardens with picnic tables and barbecues, a large playing field with swings and a copse for the exercising of dogs.
The Roundhouse is situated at the rear of the other cottages, overlooking a small copse and has its own small garden and parking area. The cottage was converted from the building that once housed the machinery that ground corn etc., and was operated with the help of a horse walking in a circle – hence the name. The conversion has been undertaken for wheelchair use and as such has wide doors and a roll-in shower. The cottage has a twin bedroom (beds can be linked together) with a small double sofabed in the living room. The living room has a log/coal stove which keeps the cottage warm even in the middle of winter and is furnished with a sofabed and two armchairs, where you can relax in front of the open fire or watching television. Next to the living room is the large kitchen/dining room which has a solid oak kitchen with oven, ceramic hob, microwave, refrigerator, washer/dryer and hopefully all the kitchen utensils you could possibly need for your stay. The shower room has the roll-in shower, basin and toilet, with a separate toilet being just off of the hallway.
For a cosy, quiet and relaxed stay, it would be hard to find better value for money than The Roundhouse, which due to its size is the least expensive of our cottages, yet with its four stars ETC rating it has received the highest grading. The cottage is recommended for couples, disabled guests, older guests and smaller families who want to get away to a home from home in the country.
We do allow one large or up to two small dogs to stay in this cottage. All breeds are welcome, once they have passed puppy training, but we ask that dogs are not left unattended in the cottage and that they are kept on a lead around the cottage gardens. There is a small copse at the rear of the cottages where your dog can be exercised.
This is a haven for walkers yet within a few minutes' drive of delightful North Coast beaches. Widemouth Bay and Crackington Haven are both within a short drive. Other places to visit along the coast are Boscastle, Tintagel, Port Isaac, Padstow and Clovelly. | | | |
