This welcoming house has every comfort you could wish for a pleasant holiday. It has a fully equipped kitchen and utility room with washing machine and freezer, together with a drying room with tumble drier at the rear of the house. It is a warm house benefitting from its sunny aspect and gas-fired central heating system. The main sitting room is at the front of the house on the ground floor, and has a large window to enjoy the inspiring view. It is well-furnished with comfortable seating for a tired guest, and a TV and VCR for the odd evening in. Through the hall is the entrance to a small, sunny conservatory with cane chairs, while at the rear of the house is the dining room, furnished in cottage style. Upstairs is the bathroom, with bath, shower, sink and wc. Porthleven is an attractive, unspoilt fishing village in South West Cornwall situated in the middle of Mount’s Bay. To the east lies the Lizard Peninsula and to the west, Land’s End. The harbour forms the centre of the village and is flanked on either side by fishermen’s houses, shops and restaurants. Porthleven has a wealth of coastal paths and country lanes. Viddy Cottage is a former coastguard cottage situated in a quiet courtyard with parking outside the property and within a short walking distance of the harbour. The main bedroom has double bed, built-in wardrobes, hand basin and a door leading to the garden and decking area. The second bedroom also has a double bed, together with a hand basin. The bathroom has an electric shower over the bath and a W.C. Downstairs the sitting room has a stone fireplace with multi-fuel stove, TV and video, and a separate well equipped kitchen / diner includes washing machine and microwave. Viddy can accomodate five comfortably with an additional foldaway bed or cot if required. Backing onto the cricket ground, it is about an 8-minute walk to the town of St. Just, and about 10 minutes to Cape Cornwall Golf and Country Club. Although the cottage is over 200 years old, it has been completely re-furbished to modern standards, while retaining the character of this lovely old granite building. Broadband is also now available. Most rooms have network connections, so bring your lap-top and network cable.
The lounge / dining room, with beamed ceilings and original internal granite walls, is some 21 feet by 16 with a multi-fuel stove in a lovely inglenook fireplace, although the cottage does also have full oil-fired central heating. The large and airy fully fitted kitchen was re-built in 2001 and has all the facilities you would expect, including a dishwasher. There are three bedrooms - one double, one twin and one study cum television room cum bedroom, which in total comfortably sleep 5 people. The shower room has a thermostatic shower as well as lavatory and hand basin, while the bathroom has a lavatory and hand basin along with the bath; there is also a downstairs cloakroom with lavatory and hand basin. Outside, the small front garden is protected from the prevailing winds with a dry-stone wall and hedges, and is a real suntrap. At the back is a raised parking area, and a stone shed.
